Our Journey

From Crisis to Community. From Hunger to Hope.
In 2008, families in Haiti were so desperate they ate mud cookies to survive, describing the pain as “swallowing bleach.” The world called it the Klorox Crisis. We called it “Our Beginning.”
Today, we’re Gateway To Humanity, transforming lives across Haiti and the diaspora, one family at a time.
We don’t just provide aid, we build pathways to prosperity.
We equip families with tools, relationships, and resources to move from crisis to stability to lasting prosperity. Every dollar you invest creates ripple effects that strengthen entire communities.

The Beginning
The Klorox Crisis shook Haiti and ignited our mission. We started not as an institution but as a heartbeat. From Lawrenceville, Georgia, we didn't just send aid. We took our boots to the ground. We rolled our sleeves. We built relationships. We listened. We stayed.
Each meal shared was a statement: The Families Will Not Be Forgotten.

When the World Looked Away
On January 12, 2010, a devastating 7.0 earthquake claimed over 300,000 lives. While cameras focused on Port-au-Prince, we turned to forgotten Arcahaie. Through grassroots partnerships, we brought food, medical care, and shelter where others wouldn't go. In the rubble, compassion took root. Relief became Resilience.

Kore Peyizan: Supporting the Farmer
We saw farmers with land but no seeds, soil ready but hands empty. Kore Peyizan, which means Support the Farmer, was born. We distributed seeds and crops, planting more than food. We planted resilience, dignity, and hope. Farmers began to reclaim Haiti’s future, row by row.

Sustainable Growth
By 2019, relief evolved into resilience. 2,800 farmers received seeds, tools, and training. Each harvest meant stability. Each field planted meant confidence restored. Schools, once at risk of closing, remained open because teachers were paid, roofs repaired, and canteens filled.

Expanding Impact
Even as the pandemic shook the world, we expanded. 1,500 more farmers gained seeds and stability. Each farmer supported became a light in uncertain times.

Turning Toward the Diaspora
Haiti’s story crossed oceans. Families fleeing violence and instability arrived in the U.S. with only courage and hope. Gateway To Humanity became a lifeline: helping parents enroll children in school, guiding families to housing, connecting fathers to jobs, and giving teenagers a sense of belonging. This is not charity. It is the recognition that rebuilding life from scratch requires strength—and community.

Toys for Joy
In 2023, we launched Toys for Joy. A simple gift became a tradition. With every toy placed in a child’s hands, we witnessed smiles brighter than holiday lights. In just our second year, over 250 children were blessed, proving that joy is as essential as bread.

Transforming Lives
Our impact touched over 4,500 families, with single-parent households at the heart. Through training, resources, and equity, families built stable and self-sufficient futures. Hunger gave way to dignity. Despair gave way to transformation.

Toys & Joy: Bigger & Better
This year, we go bigger. Our toy drive expands into Boys & Girls Clubs, churches, and transitional homes. Each toy is more than a gift, it’s a declaration that every child deserves to be celebrated, seen, and cherished.
